I currently paint in 3 distinct styles: A figurative, life-based series. The sources of these are often culled from fashion mags; paintings inspired by Burning Man; the third is that which I have named my Emotive Paintings (aka, Happy Paintings, Fun Paintings). I started going to Burning Man in 1998 and in 1999 I returned with a few hundred small paintings on business cards to give away as gifts. Through making these paintings stories emerged: stories about The Kid, The Hi-Guy, Mister Oh!, Mister Roboto, Big Boom, Scratch and Loop. I eventually created the idoz fun site using these stories to create an entertaining, if not slightly subversive experience. The name of the company is Mighty Fine Industries.
My name is Noah Bell. I love burning man and have been there 5 times, though it really makes me tired. Going to this festival has stimulated my creativity. It has changed the character of my artwork. I create strange, emotive and happy paintings. I guess I can't call myself an outsider artist, but used loosely maybe it could apply. Noah's art, my art is outsider art in the sense that I have been painting for my entire life in a supportive environment (thanks Mom!) I created whatever I wanted. People ask what I call my art. It could be pop surrealism, whimsical, pleasing, fun paintings, but I have gone with "Emotive".
Smile. You're being recorded. Those caught frowning will be searched.
Thank you,
Noah Bell
